- On trails and other narrow roadways, pay close attention to hikers and slow down or stop as seems appropriate under the circumstances.
- Always were a helmet and never underestimate the difficulty of the trails.
- Be careful when crossing wood bridges, as they can often be slippery.
- Avoid skidding as this can damage both your tires and the road surface.
Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Turn-by-turn directions
Along this section, it is mandatory that you give the right of way to cyclists coming down the downhill run.
At the fork in the ski run, keep to the left (the Competition run) and continue for about 100 yards. Turn left at the sign and follow the trail, which will take you to a dirt road in about a kilometer (six-tenths of a mile) at the village of Stablei.
Along the trail, there will be a number of sections that only the most expert cyclists will be able to take on. Others will want to get off and push or carry their bikes. Pay close attention to any hikers you may encounter, and slow down or stop as seems appropriate under the circumstances.
Head up to the left in the direction of Madonnina (follow 974 itinerary), first on the dirt road and then along a highly technical trail suited to more expert riders. When you reach the pass (facing east towards the Brenta Dolomites), continue to the right following the trail towards Malga Movlina, which will take you through an up-and-down section to Passo del Gotro. Head down along the trail to the right, which will become a dirt road after about 300 yards and will take you to Malga Movlina. Continue along the main road, but be careful of the bar that is almost always down across the road, and watch out for cars coming up from Val d’Algone. From the bar across the road, continue on for about 2 miles (3km) until you get to an open area with a series of stones along the right-hand side. Turn right and continue for about 1km (two-thirds of a mile) until you get to an intersection. Turn left here and head down the dirt road until you find an evident intersection with a trail. Turn right here and follow the trail that heads steeply down before climbing slightly. Here, too, watch out for a bar across the road. Head down the steep forest road, and be careful of the cement-covered sections, which can be very slippery due to gravel.
At the end of this steep downhill, in the Vall area, turn right over the hill and follow this road until the fifth switchback. At the fifth switchback, turn right along a trail that, after a few yards, you will need to do with your bike on your shoulder.
At the end of the trail, you will find yourself on a dirt road. Follow this road for about a mile and a quarter (2km) until you find a capitello (a religious landmark). Turn right here and continue along the paved road to the village of Massimeno.
When you reach the main town square, head down the main road and follow itinerary 971, which will take you through Giustino and Vadaione and back to the Pinzolo lifts.
