Turn-by-turn directions
Along this section, it is mandatory that you give the right of way to cyclists coming down the downhill run.
At the fork in the ski run, keep to the left (the Competition run) and continue for about 100 yards. Turn left at the sign and follow the trail, which will take you to a dirt road in about 1km (six-tenths of a mile) at the village of Stablei.
Along the trail, there will be a number of sections that only the most expert cyclists will be able to take on. Others will want to get off and push or carry their bikes.
Pay close attention to any hikers you may encounter, and slow down or stop as seems appropriate under the circumstances.
When you get to Stablei, turn left (following the 974 signs) and continue on to La Modannina, where the 975 itinerary will begin. Follow the trail towards Lake Valagola, which will take you down towards the forest where you will see a sign telling you to get off your bike ("bici a spinta"). Push or carry your bike for about 300 yards until you see another sign saying that it is safe to ride your bike again. Continue along the trail, which will feature some technical sections and will then take you alongside Lake Valagola.
Once you have passed the lake, turn right and either take the bridge or cross through the stream, continuing on in the direction of Malga Valagola. Pass the malga on the left and then follow the dirt road. Head down this road towards Val Brenta, and watch out for the bar across the road about 50 yards after the second bridge. Beyond this point, you may encounter cars coming up the road, so BE CAREFUL.
Continue along the dirt road to Plan da li Bori (an open area with fencing along the right), and here you will turn left. Continue across the next bridge, where the road becomes paved, and cross in front of Prà de la Casa.
Follow the paved road and cross the bridge. Continue under the gondola lift and, after about 50 yards, turn left and head down until you reach the Pinzolo-Campiglio Express connecting lift.
Cross the bridge and turn right. Continue on for about 1 km (six-tenths of a mile) and turn right at the crossroad. Cross the stream and then the bridge and follow the trail, which will take you up to another crossroads (Ponte di Cavradoss), where you will take the 969 itinerary through Mavignola, the villages of Ponte Canale and Tulot and on to Pinzolo.
