Destination
Turn-by-turn directions
The view from Doss del Sabion is spectacular, with Madonna di Campiglio to the north, the Brenta Dolomites to the east, Val Rendena to the south, and the Adamello-Presanella Group to the west.
From the arrival point of the Doss del Sabion chair lift (follow 968 signs), head down the dirt road to the right towards the Grual pasture.
Continue along the main road until you reach the casina (a milk-storage hut) of Malga Grual. Cross the stream and head back into the forest. An up-and-down road will take you to the pastureland around Malga Cioca. Continue down along the dirt road, which will cut across the Dolomitica ski run a couple of times, until you reach the village of Prà Rodont.
From here, the road will be paved and begins to descend through a series of switchbacks and the villages of Valastun (vista point), Poc, Calchera, Rigoza, and Maniva. Before returning to Pinzolo, you may want to visit the military chapel, which was refurbished in memory of World War I.
There can be a great difference in temperature between Pinzolo, at 800m (2,625 ft), and Doss del Sabion, at 2,100m (6,890 ft), so be prepared with appropriate clothing.
